Favourite TV show.
I had a really hard time choosing between House and The Mentalist, but I think I’ll go with The Mentalist because that’s the one I’m obsessed with right now and also because I think it’s underrated.
So more about the show:
Patrick Jane is an independent consultant for the CBI (California Bureau of Investigation). He has an uncanny ability to solve cases with the rare skills he posses. Earlier he had claimed to a have psychic powers and had almost a celebrity status because of these skills he had. But when he used these skills and claimed on television that it was his psychic powers he used to help the police profile the serial killer Red John, the killer took his revenge upon Jane by brutally killing his wife and daughter.
With this, Jane put an end to his ‘psychic’ career and focused entirely on revenge on Red John. That is why he teamed up with the CBI, because he has a better chance of catching Red John. He mainly focuses on cases involving Red John or Red John copycats. He later admits to faking the supernatural aspects of his skills, often asserting that “there’s no such thing as psychics”, yet he has finely honed skills in cold reading, hypnosis, and picking pockets, as well as powerful observational skill and a deep insight into the human psyche and behavior, which is how he can solve even the toughest cases. His fellow team members are Agents Lisbon, Rigsby, Van Pelt and Cho.
Created by Bruno Heller and directed by Simon Baker, the show aired from September 23rd 2008 to February 18th 2015. It has 7 seasons with a total of 151 episodes.
The cast includes:
- Simon Baker as Patrick Jane.
- Robin Tunney as Teresa Lisbon.
- Tim Kang as Kimball Cho.
- Owain Yeoman as Wayne Rigsby.
- Amanda Righetti as Grace Van Pelt.
This show is not only a thrilling crime drama series but it also has a captivating story in it. It shows the life of a man who has lost everything, who lives only to have his revenge. It shows us how someone can change when everything he cares about is ripped away from his life. It shows us everyone has a dark side. I personally love this show a lot. I feel that it doesn’t get the recognition it deserves. It really is a great show. If this was an actual review I would definitely give it 5 stars. (It is my favorite show after all!)
So that’s it for today. I really had fun writing this post. Untill next time!
