From My Life To My Blog… (I need your opinion!!!)

Hello everyone!

Soooo I had gone on an unannounced hiatus for almost 3 months because I had writer’s block (and I’ve been lazy… Oops..). And now I am proud to say that I am back!

A lot has happened in my life in the past few months and I think it’s a new chapter in my life and hopefully for my blog too…

I started college a month back (A month??? When did that happen?) and so far it’s been absolutely amazing! I got into the college I wanted and for the course I loved (Bachelor of Arts, Functional English), and I have great friends there so I’m really happy about it all. My course is actually really fun to study (we even have a creative writing paper in our 5th semester and I am already so excited!) and the teachers are great so hopefully it’ll be easy.

It was the election last week at college so all the students were really hyped up about it and the students from the political parties did campaigning and stuff and the party I supported won! So yayy!! Meanwhile we first years are getting accustomed to ‘college life’. The great thing is that my classmates, with one month of studying together act like all of us have know each other for a year so there has never been any awkwardness…

That’s the bag that I bought for college… #FriendsFanForLife

I’ve always been really introverted and I think in the past few months I’m starting to become a bit more outgoing? Maybe almost to the level of an ambivert? I’ve anchored at my cousin’s wedding… Entered a singing competion, started talking more to people I don’t know that well and generally became a bit more interested to engage in various activites rather than just sitting holed up at home with my books (I’ve read SO MUCH)… So yeah that’s what’s been going on in my life…

Now… About my blog… I haven’t really posted for a long while now except for the micro story I wrote a few weeks back… But now I fully intend to post regularly. But I haven’t been completely out of touch with the blogosphere these past months. I participated in The Typwriter Project the amazing Ilsa hosted and I’m also participating in The Scribbler’s Challenge held by May!

About the things you can expect on my blog well… There’s gonna be a part 2 to my positivity post which is gonna be sort of an opposite to what I wrote earlier… Not giving away too much on it…

I’m also thinking of doing some posts on specific days… Like Music Mondays and Foodie Fridays… And maybe Booky Sundays too.. (I know, not very creative names… Maybe you guys could suggest something?) I’ve been thinking about doing these for a while now but what made me decide is reading Sasha‘s Wacky Wednesday post.

So basically what they are… For Music Mondays I’m gonna write about maybe a specific artist or about a song I heard that I liked… It could even be about a movie soundtrack…

Foodie Fridays are gonna be about something new I tried, something I tried to make or a recipe…

Booky Sundays… Well anything related to books really… And I’ll of course be continuing my Micro Story series…

Obviously I’m not gonna be doing this every Monday, Friday and Sunday… Once a month maybe? And do you guys want me to do more posts like these where I can give you updates on my life and generally get to know me better? I haven’t been doing that much on my blog so would you guys like to read that?

Anyway that’s about it!

So what do you think? Have I been away too much? What kind of posts do you guys want me to write? What do you think about the special day posts? Do you want updatey posts? Is there any of your posts you want me to read? Let me know in the comments!

Untill next time!

Micro Story 6

It was Christmas day. The sunlight hit her face and she woke up with a start. Her children would come to visit her today. She jumped out of bed and rushed about the house making sure everything was perfect. The house was decorated, the Christmas tree and the presents under it were ready for her darlings to find.

She heard a noise and rushed to the front door. Finally her precious children were here! She went to the door eagerly only to be met with disappointment. It was only her housekeeper, Anne.

“Oh Anne, it’s only you. I thought it would be John and Mary.”

“John and Mary?” Anne looked confused.

“Yes, John and Mary. My children. They’ll visit today. I’m sure they won’t let me be alone on Christmas Day.”

“Mrs.Hudson… I’m sorry but they won’t come today.” Anne said.

“What do you mean? Of course they’re coming. I know they will.”

“But Mrs.Hudson… Your children…” Anne hesitated. “They… They died Mrs.Hudson…. 4 years back, in an accident… I’m sorry… I’m so sorry that you don’t remember… ”

5 Ways to Find Inspiration to Blog

Hello everyone!

First of all I would like to mention some amazing blogging achievements I had over the past month. I hit 200 followers!! Yayy!!! So thank you to my amazing followers for that!! I also reached 100 posts! Thank you to my readers for inspiring me to write so much! And Mahriya guest posted on my blog!!! Thank you Mahriya! (Read her post on how to grow readers HERE!)

Moving on, most of us have experienced that feeling when we have absolutely nothing to write about and we sit looking at the blank screen in desperation. No ideas, no inspiration, not even a tiny bit of insight on what to write… Well, here are 5 ways to help you find inspiration for blog posts!

1. Use your surroundings / situations

If you traveled to a great place then describe your experience. If you met a friend after a long time then describe your feelings – maybe someone else can relate. If a holiday is coming up then write a post related to that. For example you can write about what to dress up as on Halloween or some great Christmas cake recipes. Or you can get inspired from books, movies, songs etc. You can write about a concept or idea you liked in them or you can even write reviews about them.

2. Write about current topics

Write about what’s currently trending or about social issues because that will keep your post fresh and relevant. You can use google alerts or trending topics from different social media to help you. Another thing to try is writing about controversies. Write from a different point of view than what everyone has. Put your own twist on mundane everyday things and make them more interesting.

3. Read other posts

Read other blog posts or scour the web for posts that you like. If you read something that you like then try to work with a similar idea. But DO NOT copy the original  post. Work with the idea, put your own spin on it and turn it into something new.

4. Ask other people

If you are in need of inspiration ask other bloggers about how they get their ideas. Or even better, ask your readers about what they want to read. If you have an idea about what content your readers are looking for then you can write accordingly.

5. Use the eureka moment

All of us have moments when we go “wow THAT would make a great blog post!” But these ideas may come at the most inconvenient times. Maybe we’re taking a test, or doing a presentation for work, or maybe we wake up in the dead of the night with a great idea. Usually these ideas are the best ones but they come at the random-est times and we have to learn to use them. Write it down, make a note on your phone or make a funny sentence which contains your idea so you can remember it. However tiny the idea may be you can develop these into great blog posts.

So, do you use these ways to find ideas to blog about? How else do you find blogging ideas? Was this post helpful? Let me know in the comments!

Until next time!

The Blue Sky Tag!

First of all, I have some very exciting news!! Mahriya from My Bookish Life will be guest posting on my blog!!!!! I am so excited!! Thank you Mahriya for doing it! Her post will be up this Monday, so keep your eyes peeled for that!

Now, on to the tag! I was tagged for the Blue Sky Tag by Write Ally! Write! Thank you for tagging me because I really do like doing tags and challenges.

The Rules:

  1. Thank the person who tagged you
  2. Answer their 11 questions
  3. Tag 11 people
  4. Give them 11 questions to answer

The Questions:

1. What was the last book you read?

The Monstrous Child by Francesca Simon. It’s a very good book based on Norse mythology.

2. What are you trying to achieve with your blog?

I’m trying to improve my writing skills with my blog. Writing is something I absolutely adore and I hope to make a career out of it someday so I’m trying to make my blog a stepping stone towards that.

3. Do you think you are someone with a sense of humor?

Well I do have a sense of humor but I’ve never been the funny one. Although I am fairly sarcastic.

4. Imagine 10 years ago. How does that make you feel about yourself now?

Well I was seven 10 years ago… How does that make me feel about myself now? Well uh… I’m not exactly sure. I guess I’m proud of my achievements?

5. How would your friend describe you?

Probably as the introverted studious type. Although my friends do describe me as creative too.

6. Do you have hobbies that others might find unusual?

I write letters to my friends even though I know I will most probably never get a reply. Writing letters itself is rare in this electronic age but I keep writing them and actually post them to my friends even though they won’t write back… Which is a bit weird.

7. Have you ever done something illegal?

Nope, I don’t think so.

8. If you end up being a prisoner, what likely would be the reason?

For getting really angry and accidentally hurting someone in that anger.

9. What is the most likely thing that will get you angry?

Someone insulting my family or friends.

10. How do you handle yourself when you are angry?

I usually end up saying or doing things I will regret later or I end up crying. Which is NOT the way I want to handle myself when I’m angry. I do try not to say anything and to keep my calm.

11. Best thing to eat when you’re angry?

Chocolate!!!!! Chocolate is the answer to everything! *looks around cautiously*

    Writer’s Ink Challenge

Hello! So, I’ve been challenged for the Writer’s Ink Challenge by Mahriya (Most of you know that she’s AWESOME, but if you haven’t found her blog yet, then go, go, go!! What are you waiting for?) Anyway, thank you so much for this, I know the post is a bit late, sorry! And the creator of this tag is Eseosa, and thank you for creating such a wonderful tag.

I don’t know how much of a writer I am, but I absolutely love writing and I do a lot of it. Writing, reading and music and the three things that I hold closest to my heart.

    Anyway, here are the rules,

    1.Thank your nominator
2.Answer at least 8 questions about writing
    3.Nominate at least 5 people

When did you first start writing?

I’m not exactly sure about that because I have always written things for as long as I can remember… But I started writing more creatively when I was in the 9th grade I think.

Have you always been interested in writing?

I have actually, which is something I realized only recently. When I was younger I used to get these really creative ideas which I never actually did. But now that I think about them, I realize that they have always been connected to writing somehow.

    Why do you like writing?

Hmm… I don’t know really… I feel that I express myself more through writing because I sure can’t do that if I’m talking (Introvert Alert!!). But apart from that, I read a lot of books and when I read them, I feel like I am part of that story, that anything is possible. So many wonderful authors have created such beautiful worlds through their stories and I want to be able to do things like that too.

What genre do you write in?

Well, I mostly write fiction but related to real life situations. I have always wanted to write science fiction or fantasy though.

Who or what motivates you to write?

Not exactly sure about this one…  But I think the desire to create something of my own is what motivates me.

    Do you write poetry?

I do actually… Poetry is one of the things that I started writing first. Although I wouldn’t say I’m very good at it. I write more short stories these days though.

Have you ever written a story with a friend?

I haven’t exactly written one with a friend but I did talk over a plot idea I had with one of my friends and she helped me get rid of (most) of the plot holes. But I think it would be really fun to write a story with someone and i want to one day.

How do you write your stories (first person, third person)?

Well I write in both actually. It varies according to the story. But I’m more comfortable writing in first person and if I ever write a novel it would be in first person.

    And now, I challenge:

    1.  Write Ally! Write!
    2. Jinx Coolness’ bookworm blog
    3. Zwain Movie Reviews
    4. Writing With Style
    5. The Stylish Dreamer
    6. Writings To Heaven
    7. And YOU if you are a writer, if you love to write, if you want to write… I don’t know many writers (who haven’t done this yet) here on WordPress so if are reading this and you want to do this, please feel free

If you’ve done this before then do send me a link. I’d love to read your post. And how would you have answered these questions? I’d love to know!

      Until next time!

Why You Need Positivity and How to Bring it Into Your Life

      Hey guys!

Like I said in my last post, I’m entering a contest held by The Stylish Dreamer (its awesome and today is the last day to enter so you’ve still got time if you want to and here’s a link to her orginal post). It’s all about spreading positivity which I think is a really great idea because lets face it, positivity has been something that has been lacking in today’s world. So I’m required to post on positivity (along with a few other requirements). And here is my post!!

I was thinking about what I’d write and I wanted to do something different.  I didn’t want to blab on and on like a bad philosophical book so I thought why not take a more practical approach to it? Yes we talk about positivity but why exactly do we need it? Isn’t it just easier to think negative? (Because THAT sure comes easily) Well you’ll find that it’s not and so here it is!

5 reasons why you need positivity in your life

      • No stress:-When you think positive it obviously reduces negative thoughts and also worries and tensions which will of course result in a very stress free life.
      • Great first impression:- If you are a positive person it will reflect in your actions and words and people will notice that when they meet you. This will create a great first impression and help you in many situations like competitive interviews.
      • Helps to turn a problem into your favor:- If you are a positive thinker, then you can find opportunities in the problems that arise in your life. This will help you to face the problem and turn them in your favor.
      • Better relationships:- If you think positive you will avoid finding faults and seeing only the negative things in people and that will help you have better relationships with your family, friends, neighbors, coworkers and almost anyone.
      • Good health:- Positive thinking will of course increase mental and physical health. It’ll help you keep away from diseases and postive thinkers rarely fall into depression. Many a times you can find that people may fall sick if they have too many bad thoughts. So positive thinking keeps you healthy.

So now you’ve got reasons to be positive. But how exactly can you be positive? And so here are,

5 ways to bring positivity in your life

          • Consciously try to think positive:- This may sound obvious but if you really make an effort you will find that you can think positive more and gradually you’ll do it automatically.
          • A good meal and a good night’s rest:- Aren’t we all crabby and snappy when we’re hungry or tired? A satisfying meal and getting enough sleep will definitely keep you in good spirits and increase your positivity.
          • Read and listen to positive things:- However sceptical you may be, a good motivational or positive thinking book or speech can do wonders for you. Even if you don’t get what’s in the book or audio, your mind will unconsciously start being more positive.
          • Do things that make you happy:- You may have a very busy schedule, but find time to do things that make you happy. Maybe it’s an old forgotten hobby or spending time with someone you love. More happiness of course, equals more positivity.
          • Find the silver lining:- Yes this too is an obvious thing that many people are sceptical of. But if you force yourself (I say force because this maybe exceptionally hard to do sometimes) to find atleast a good thing in a problem, you’ll find yourself gradually doing that automatically. If you find a positive thing in a problem then you could use it to your advantage and find new opportunities in a problem. It gives you the confidence to face the problem head on rather than leave it for later.

And here’s one more bonus point that I personally assure you will definitely bring positivity to your life. And it is

            • Spread positivity to the people around you:- Be kind, help someone out, give random surprises to your loved ones, comfort someone if they’re feeling low or simply smile at someone.  You never know what could make someone’s day. And I promise the more you make others happy the more you’ll feel happy.

So there you go! You’ve got reasons to be positive and you know how to bring it in your life! Be happy, be positive, be kind and don’t let negative thoughts get you down.

Would you say that you’re a positive person? Tell me what you think of this post and whether it will help you. I’d love to hear what you guys have to say on this.

            Untill next time!

One Year Blogoversary! And a few thoughts on leaving school

Hello everyone!!! Finally my exams are over and I can finally start writing (more) again! As you can see from the title, its my one year BLOGOVERSARY!!!!!! I cannot believe it’s been a year. Last year I never even thought about starting a blog. And now here I am! I’ve got 196 AWESOME followers! I cannot believe so many people have actually liked what I write. Each like, each comment and each follow, it really means a whole lot to me. So a HUUUGGEEEEE thank you to my amazing followers and to all the people who’ve read my posts, who’ve liked and commented. Thank you to the wonderful people who’ve tagged me and nominated me for awards. And just gaahhh thank you!!!! I’m not really doing anything special for the blogoversary mostly because I have no idea what to do… (Suggestions are more than welcome!)

Anyway I was in 12th grade this year which means I’m going to college next year! Omg I can’t believe it!!! Me??!!! In college????? It still hasn’t sort of sunk in that I’ve finished my school education. I still sort of expect to go back to class after a few days. I went past my school today and that’s when it hit me… It won’t be my school anymore. I won’t sit in that class again, those teachers will never take classes for me again, I won’t ever study with those students again… On one side it seems perfectly normal because of course I knew this day would come but on the other side it’s too much to take in and I still can’t believe its happening… I have no idea where 11th grade went I mean… WHERE IS IT?? Looking back, these past two years have been a blur. Maybe it was because I was having fun. But however fast the years went I did make friendships to last a lifetime and also beautiful memories. I have no idea how I’ll make it through college without my crazy best friend by my side.

Anyway that’s it. I’m also entering a contest held by the awesome The Stylish Dreamer. You guys should really join because it’s an awesome contest and it spreads positivity! Here’s a link to the orginal post for the full details! So I’ll be posting on positivity for the contest so look out for that!

            Until next time!
